R.O.T. RULES
1a) Conduct

No profanity, obscenity or perversion. This is a simple thing. When in EQ treat all as a normal, mature person would in any real-world family gathering, social function or business meeting.

1b) Conduct

No harassment of Guild mates or others. If you have a problem with a Guildmate, work it out. If an agreement cannot be reached both parties should present their grudges to the Leader and Officers for arbitration. If a suitable compromise cannot be created the issue will be resolved by the Guildleader.

As far as problems with non-guild players, again, first attempt to work it out. Remember that the Ignore command can work wonders. Calling a GM also seems to have a calming affect on belligerent characters. If these actions do not work then the problem should be referred to the Guildleader for a solution. Officers may offer advice or support to their Guildmate but should never contact non-members during a disagreement if that Officer is not a party to the dispute. Only the Leader may. The reasoning is simple, once we step into a problem outside of our guild we are representing the guild as a whole. This opens many problems when numerous Officers will handle a given disagreement in a multitude of different ways. For the sake of consistent, level-headed decisions outside of the guild only the Leader may get involved. The Leader reserves the right to have an Officer handle a situation if he/she sees fit. Only then may an Officer contact a non-member in a disagreement.

1c) Conduct

Multiple, intentional Killstealing and Ninja looting is forbidden. Everyone is accused from time to time due to mistakes or misunderstandings, but if this is your standard style of play you will be removed. “Training” other players with hostile mobs for revenge, or for any reason outside of an accident, is also forbidden.

1d) Conduct

If you are entrusted with items to be given to another player, theft of these items shall be met with immediate removal.

1e) Conduct

The goal of the Ring of Truth is to build a community of like-minded, quality players. We welcome players that are fair and considerate when dealing with all other players, and fit especially well within the culture of our guild. There is no restriction on class or race when considering characters for admission to the guild -- the emphasis is on the quality of the player.

We do not accept players with a Player Killer “PK” flag (red name).

Our guild wishes to have fun, hunt critters and to help each and every guild member whenever possible. We also hope that our members help non-members. Give some plat to a worthy (non-twinked) newbie. Throw a heal spell on the recovering warrior sitting after a long battle. Go to the assistance of a call of distress. The life you assist or save may bail you out one day. Or better yet, if you are lucky, their 50th level character may remember you helping their 10 level and pay you back with buffs or goodies.

It's just like the real world to some extent, we forget the hordes of jerks but we always remember the one person that helped us for no personal gain. It is also a reflection of what we wish Norrath to see of our guild. We want to attract the good players not the jerks. Let the good players remember our guild as giving, helpful and willing to assist a stranger in need. That's the best way to find new, quality players.

2) Membership

We are a majority of adults (have jobs, married, have children...etc.) in the guild. We like that. We like to interact with people our own age or at least on the same level of maturity. New members are expected to mesh well with existing guild members. Youth is encouraged but we want them interacting with the guild at our level. We don't like clowns, beggars, whiners or rude people. Say thanks when the Guild helps you. Our Druids and Wizzies are not taxi services. Our guild funds are not Welfare. We would like good-natured, honest, adults.

2a) Membership - Any Level

You may apply through the New Member Application page or may ask the guild online. Either way please supply us with all of the information asked for on the application. New applicants will be reviewed and discussed by the Leader and his/her Officers. We reserve the right to turn down any applicant. Joining any guild is a privledge, not a right. You will be judged by our knowledge of you, feedback from our members and most importantly the quality of your application. Make the best possible attempt at your reason for joining.

If accepted, you will be offered an invitation for a 30 day trial membership. During this time you will not have access to the private sections of our message boards. Please use this time to join in guildchat, use the general admittance message boards and interact with the guild as much as possible. You will be monitored and expected to mesh with the guild. The Guild reserves the right to remove any member that does not fit in or violates any of these rules.

To clarify this, please keep in mind that we do not run through a zone shouting (begging) for members. We are picky and expect a better type of player to be one of us.

2b) Leaving the Guild

Any member may leave the guild whenever they desire of their own free will. Those who leave on good terms with us may reapply at any time. Any tithes or donations paid to the date of leaving the guild are forfeited.

Any member that must be asked to leave the guild for infractions of rules must remove him/herself from the guild immediately. All tithes, items or platinum donated to the guild are forfeited. No player forced to leave will be reconsidered for membership.

2c). New Characters of Existing Members

Any member that starts a new character will be admitted to the guild as soon as they feel they will like the new persona and will play it on a fairly regular basis. This is a courtesy to our proven, existing members of level 20 and greater. Of course they will have to pass the Message board post anonymously under their new character's own merits. Any new character they have that passes the Message Post will be added to roster

We would like to encourage these veteran players to group and assist new members when they can, especially during the 30 day trial membership period. It also allows us feedback from our veterans on new members of lower level. We will not post which veteran plays which new character unless directed to do so by that veteran (Just to keep the real new members on their toes lol ). There is no deception intended in this. It is the only true way to get an honest evaluation. Players will always be on best behavior when they know the alternate of an Officer is grouped with them. Remember folks, this is role-playing, each character is an individual. Respect that.

Any existing member of level 20 or greater may add a new character by passing the Message board post. Again, anonymity is up to the existing member.

3) NPC Killing

As a guild that encourages role-playing, we frown upon the killing of NPCs that are “allies” to your character without sufficient role-playing reasons. For example, it would be hard to justify a Dwarf killing friendly guards in Kaladim or Butcherblock, or a Druid hunting NPC rangers purely for loot and experience. Likewise, a Dark Elf killing Nektulos forest guards should also be supported by role-play -- perhaps this Dark Elf is "good" and wishes to ally with the light elves. Characters that kill “allied” NPC's without a role-play or quest based reason will be discouraged.

This is a judgment call for each member. At times due to quest requirements you may have to kill an allied NPC or hire someone to do it for you. At other times you or a comrade may be attacked by accident and are forced to defend yourself. These things will happen. We expect each member to make judgment calls and defend their actions logically and calmly if questioned.

Please remember, our actions represent the entire guild. We are a guild dedicated to the good and to help those who need help. Once you have joined us we are tied to your decisions and deeds. Play wisely when you wear our banner over your head.
